Mitra Foundation is not just another performing arts company. It is a close knit family of like minded connoisseurs of Indian art and culture. Mitra Foundation was established to promote and propagate the rich musical heritage of India, in 2004. On the occasion of its Tapapoorti (12 years in service), it took the form of a charitable trust, in 2016.

Mitra Foundation aims to bring forth to its discerning audience, carefully selected and curated Indian classical music and dance concerts, which tend to be hallmark performances of established maestros as well as upcoming talents.

Along with classical arts, Mitra Foundation works towards reviving and refreshing the vintage Music plays and dramas of yesteryears and promoting new experiments.

Mitra Foundation works to document and create an archive of work done by noted artists and musicians in the field of Indian Classical Music as well as Indian Film music through various modes such as live AV recordings, paper and photos.

Mitra Foundation strives to lend a helping hand towards supporting and promoting other genuine cultural program organisations.

The heart and soul of Mitra Foundation, and all of its members, is to give back to society.

Any artist deeply desires recognition and appreciation from his audience; for an artist that is their biggest honour, their biggest award. Felicitating veteran onstage as well as backstage artists, who have rendered their services to the Art for decades, but who may not have gotten their dues, is the crux of Mitra Foundation.

It is equally important to nurture and encourage the next generation. Mitra Foundation awards scholarships to students of performing arts, to help them achieve their life goals.

Mitra Foundation organises programs on a quarterly basis. Since 2016, in the month of November, Mitra Foundation started a two day music festival (Mitra Mahotsav) and artists like Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Ustaad Shujaat Khan, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Mahesh Kale, Rahul Deshpande etc have performed in the Mahotsav.
